The Library of Congress YouTube page has a video lecture called “How the States Got Their Shapes”.

The video is just over an hour, and is packed full of great details.

The lecturer is Mark Stein, who wrote a book explaining why our state lines are drawn they way they are. His book is also called How the States Got Their Shapes.
